A propos

Dr. Maria Ann Noland

A recent PhD graduate, I am eager to apply my training and experience to higher education in a research, teaching, or other student-centered capacity. My current research interests include disability studies, the cultures of the Caribbean and their diasporas, and medical anthropology.

I am passionate about science and believe in its unique role in furthering social good. As an anthropologist, I also seek to understand the experience of sense-making, how it influences individual motivation and thinking, and how it can be mobilized for ethical outcomes.

I live in New York City, my home since 2013. My hobbies include art appreciation, vinyasa yoga, zen philosophy, listening to the music of Etienne Charles, caring for my twin Siamese cats, and traveling and cooking with my forever partner, an Italian physician and researcher.
